A couple points to clarify. To the woman who had an issue with the photography girl, I was working at the DNA both nights (nowhere near the stage, mind you, I have no knowledge of the incident in question) but I can assure you the security staff was doing their utmost to deal with — as you can well imagine — the ENORMOUS challenges of putting on a show of that scope in a mid-sized venue. We tried at whenever possible to be nice.

Also wanted to clarify that my impression (based on radio chatter) was that Prince was actually the reason he went on before everyone was in the venue, not the DNA Lounge.

I hope everyone had fun! I had two very magic evenings. 🙂

The late show went until 1:35 or so. One update to the setlist: Crimson & Clover also had a bit of “Wild Thing” by the Troggs mixed in there.

If you are going tonite: Dress warm so you don’t freeze to death waiting in the line. People in the back 30% of the line (like me) did not get in the doors until “Let’s Go Crazy” was almost over (gee thanks DNA lounge). Other than that, it was a great show.

I was able to attend 4 shows and the tour launch party. Both Seattle Lates & both Portlands. These were shows 25-28 for me and rank among the best shows I’ve ever witnessed. Each show had something special. Extra dap to Prince for playing “While We’re Dancing Close and Slow”- that was an extra special treat. “Beggin’ Woman Blues”- another highlight from the PDX late. The jacket worn on Friday night in Seattle was so “Around The World In A Day” & perfect for spring. There was a lot of love and energy at these shows. I was real honored to be a part of it. Time to reup my Purple funds and get ready for the next Purple wave… Paisley Park, what ? who when ? ……. I’m there.

I went to the 2nd concert last night and it was so much fun. He Rocked – He Funked – He Tore It Up!! The sampler set was Prince as DJ and it was one big Prince dance party. I was dancing and in the center of the floor with Prince just feet away and it was packed the kind of hot sweaty packed and I loved it and people all around me well we were kinda dancing all together!!! What can I say it was FABULOUS!!! When 3rdeyegirl did Let’s Go I liked how all three guitarists were right next to each other jammin’ center stage!! The show lasted approximately 2 hrs but when you are having so much fun it goes by so fast!! Way to go Prince, I love you!!!

Early show also had “It’s Gonna Be a Beautiful Night”, yes just the chorus, “Oh e Oh” but hey if we’re splitting hairs, he played the song!!!

Sounds like a great concert. Soo bummed I missed it and I will be missing the concert in SD in May. I’m a little salty though that Andy Allo didn’t make an appearance/wasn’t invited given that it was in her hometown and she cancelled her SF concert last year.

Glad to hear he’s playing new songs as well as old material. He’s to hoping he does a kickass residency in LA again!

I thought Seattle was good. I would have loved to see Snow in April and Motherless Child. Amazing. Goes to show you go to as many Prince shows as you can.

Ahhhhmazing show! I’m at the 50 Prince show mark and and feel nuthin suprises me anymore… was I surprised last nite? Absolfrickinlutely! We went to the 1st show… of course I cried when he played the whole ‘Forever In My Life’… a special moment of many during this show. So happy my son got that special interaction w/him, but then Prince always notices my boy. Thank you Prince for the 1 of the best times of my life. I will never forget this show. And 3rd Eye Girl, talk about rocking the house. You could tell they were as thrilled to play with our Rock & Roll icon as we were watching him. There was a little issue with a young girl w/a camera who was supposedly Prince was paying her for pictures. Security had no problem forcing me away from the front so she could go in front of me to take her pictures. That wouldn’t be so bad if she just took some but she was feeling way too at home in my spot. And when I slighted grumbled to the security guard… he didn’t have to tell me that if I had a problem with it I could always be forcible removed from the building. Whoa… slow ur roll dude. But regardless, I had a wonderful time… and this 54 year old woman who has seen a lot of rock in my life was thoroughly thrilled my this experience! And one of the best parts of going to Prince shows is the comraderie amongst the other ‘front row’ Prince folks! It make the time pass and the shared stories are priceless!! See you all again tonight, we going to the late show this time! Ahhhoooohwahhhh

I’ve seen Prince nearly 40 plus times. Last night was the best show I’ve ever seen. It was all there; the band was just tight enough, and rough around the edges enough to insure excitement. The set list was balanced. The guitar playing was spirited (Donna, will you marry me?), the audience was working hard too. Just a beautiful night top to bottom. Oh, and Prince was just at his best.

    Me: “you’re killing me!”
Prince: (leans over me) “I’m trying to make you live!”

    Masterful.

it was the best show i have ever seen.
i have been to a million prince shows.. NOTHING has come close to this one.. it was different and special and unlike anything ive ever seen him do.

    it was just so pure..

and its ALL ABOUT THE GUITAR.. i swear , he just tore it up.

and forget it.. that Second Show sampler set went on for ages.. and it could have just gone on and on and on and we all would have been thrilled.. its like nothing ive ever experienced before.. i havent heard him do as long a version of housequake since the lovesexy tour.. and hot thing was mesmerizing.. the new song 2 young 2 dare is a new classic.. the lets go cover was so much fun.. and forget it lesser know songs like bambi, endorphinmachine, i like it there just prove that there is no greater songwriter on the planet.

it blew my incredibly high expectations away.

just go to the show no matter how much it costs.. figure out a way to pay for it.. just go.. it was unforgettable.

The 1st show set list looks correct. The 1st show started a little late at 8:10-8:15 and went until 10:35 with 2 small breaks for encore. It was an instruction in how to play blazing lead guitar (Black Vox and Multi-colored Vox). Prince-a, Donna, Hannah (w/Josh-a) and Ida seemed to be smiling a lot and really having fun as was the crowd at the show. The place was packed like sardines and had a strong female contingent. It was get to know you neighbors really well night. 🙂 I would characterize it as a giant SF dance party sing-along. A+. Don’t miss it if you have a chance to go.
