Posted at 12:25h, 21 MarchTimes have changed when it comes to staging concerts and tours and we can’t always expect the artists we love to go on tour at bottom barrel prices as it’s very, very costly and artists like Prince, his band and crew need to get paid. We can’t expect the greatest living musician to always be available to perform on the cheap. Look at Madonna and The Eagles. Their top prices go for more than Prince tickets on this new tour.
Bottom line, Prince is worth every penny as he always strives to put on the best performance possible even if the song selection from his vast catalog is restricted due to his religious beliefs, age and outlook.
If Prince is charging 200 – 300 per ticket for this current tour, which is in smaller venues, by the way, he’s got every right to and is doing so out of necessity due to the costs of touring rather than a disrespect to fans.

Posted at 11:15h, 21 MarchWhile it’s cool Prince is coming around with his 3rd Eye Girl band, I’m hearing complaints of the $200 price tag. I wonder if Prince has ever considered partnering with a corporate sponsor to defray all the costs and pay Prince a sum as well so that the fans don’t have to part with such a large amount of much needed $$$?
I saw Prince 8 times when he did his 21 nights at The Forum a couple years back. EIGHT times at $25 a pop (including all surcharges and taxes). And, THOSE shows were with a much larger band and far more expensive production. Just think…for the EIGHT times I saw him at The Forum, it amounts to the same $$ I’d pay to see him ONCE on this new tour. I’m still amazed Prince was able to offer the Forum dates for so cheap.
I’m going to count myself as blessed for having had the opportunity to see Prince as many times as I have in my life beginning in 1986 in Denver for his Parade tour with The Revolution and for me, personally, call it a day on seeing Prince live again. All the best to all who continue to go see him in a live setting. I’m content now to enjoy his music and videos past and present and future.
Here’s hoping he reaches back into the vaults and releases (like Michael Jackson did) ALL his music videos as well as archival concerts from the past til NOW. AND, I hope he films and releases a professional DVD and Documentary DVD of this new tour with 3rd Eye Girl. I think it would be in Prince’s best interests to release all his visual videos and films while he is still alive so that he can reap the benefits rather than his estate doing so once he’s gone.
