18 Feb Metallica Not Standing In The Way Of Military Interrogation Music
It made a big splash when the Military advised when torturing prisoners during interrogations, they played Metallica’s music to soften them up. There was a report going around that the band was upset with their music being used. Not true.
The band has officially made a statement about their music being used and it seems they don’t care either way.
Here is the official statement:
“There has been a lot of talk recently about us asking the military not to use our music to “soften people up before interrogation”. We NEVER commented to the military either way on this matter. Any statements that have been made otherwise are not correct.”
So Metallica isn’t tripping on their music being used. End of story. All along we thought they were using Barry Manilow’s music instead.-DocFB
Diagnosis: No one was interrogated during this post.

Posted at 04:42h, 25 FebruaryNot funny Doc; I realise that this is a showbiz site, but the indifference shown by both Metallica and the general public is tacitly condoning the torture of people all in the name of National Security. Metallica are a great band, but they felt compelled to issue this copout, alas they be branded “unpatriotic” or “flagburners” which consequently would affect their commercial activities. Your reference to Barry Manilow may be a flippant comment, but many are unaware that the US military has even used the theme from Sesame Street amongst the assumed stereotypical Heavy Metal music for torture.
At least someone had the courage and gave a damn to go find out how the music they had created is being perverted for the exact opposite effect for which it was created. I do urge people to check out the video, “Songs of War – Al Jazeera World” which gives a great insight into this subject.
…and I do hope any comment is above the level of Dubya’s “your with us or against us!”. Adults discuss things even if they have differing point of views.
