05 Apr Did Mary J. Blige Know What She Was Getting Into With Burger King Chicken Commercial?
Mary J. Blige and Burger King have been in hot water ever since a commercial she filmed for the fast food chain was leaked earlier this week. Blige says the commercial is not what she expected.
Blige thought she was going to appear in a dream sequence of the commercial, even though the cashier says “Go ahead, Mary” before going into the chicken song. Now, even if it was a dream sequence, she knew the lyrics she was going to sing and what the product was.
TMZ have Mary quoted as saying:
“I understand my fans being upset by what they saw. But, if you’re a Mary fan, you have to know I would never allow an unfinished spot like the one you saw go out.”
Since the commercial has been leaked, social media sites have been blowing up about the commercial promoting racial stereotypes of African-Americans and chicken. You know, like the stereotype that when ever a white man sees someone scary, he’s yelling for security. Or the one…..OK, I’m not going to go there.
Plain and simple, I love Mary J. Blige. However, she knew the lyrics and what the product is for. So does her saying that she did not approve of the finished ad hold any water at all….or BBQ sauce?-DocFB
Diagnosis: Last month, Wendy’s surpassed Burger King to be the number 2 burger chain behind McDonalds. Look who’s’ now being talked about again….

Posted at 09:50h, 05 AprilWell I literally just watched another new Burger King spot with David Beckham, and they do have a dream sequence with him. But she is SINGING about chicken, doesn’t look great but it’s not the end of the world. Burger King & Mary J. should just redo the spot and get on with it.
