Black Gypsy is Shelby Johnson’s band that she has had for some years now.
Shelby J. has been performing with Prince since late 2006 and performed on the grandest stage of them all, the Super Bowl, along with 21 Nights in London, where she is featured in the book 21 Nights.
Shelby has a powerful voice that commands you from the first lyric that leaves her lips. So support a true independant artist and check out Shelby J’s band new site.

Posted at 16:59h, 10 AugustGO SHELBY! I am too proud of you. Its Ken Lilly from Greensboro. And to think I turned out to be a firefighter/Captain. You have really done big things! I read your news article Thursday. How Awesome! Turns out you are into fitness. I have been a personal trainer for 10 years also, so if you are in Greensboro, email me (lilly4@northstate.net) and we can workout. I love Charlotte too. I visit there occasionaly and stay uptown. In fact I was just there a few weeks ago at the Jazz fest. Love eating at Delta’s there too. Don’t forget us little people! WOOT WOOT!!!

Posted at 08:43h, 24 July‘How i know’ from Roy’s Hard groove was 1st time to hear from you. I want to collect everything from Black Gypsy, do consider recording a SOULFULL DVD here in Durban South Africa & there’s no venue suitable than The Playhouse. Keep up the good work.

Posted at 05:14h, 20 JanuaryI really love Shelby’s voice and every member in Blackgypsy is talented, but I really feel like the group had trouble giving themselves an identity. This album really sounds like a lot of what is available on VH1 Soul… I wish the best for the group and hopefully they’ll have a fully developed sound by the time Vol. 2 hits! I also cannot wait for Shelby’s upcoming solo album!
