18 Nov Update On The Art Of Prince
Prince Art By Anthony Malzone.
We got an update from someone who called the gallery who will be hosting The Art of Prince event that will take place in San Francisco in early December.
He even found out the price of the Prince prints. Want to find out? Plus, we had the artist send us some exclusive info! See me after the jump for the info.
When the person called they found this information that I guess is public;
The Prince prints will be going for about $1,000 dollars a piece and there will be a 100 only of each print.
Now, keep in mind, these prints appear to be limited and will also be signed by the artist, Anthony Malzone, and may not be something you are going to find just anywhere. In all honesty, events like these are more for art collectors and say people who collect art of musicians more so than say your average fan, so it is understandable.
Maybe they will have postcards like a gallery did in New York a couple of years ago that featured photos of Prince right before he was releasing records. A great girl sent me some of those postcards a couple of years ago and that was really cool of her.
For those that may not be able to afford the $1,000 dollar artwork, we hear from a funkenbaby in Minnesota that Prince’s latest 3 cd set Lotusflower Lotusflow3r will be sold at Target the day after Thanksgiving for $6.50 and I think it would make a pretty good stocking stuffer.
There will be a 100 of each print and each a $1,000. A lot of stuff is up in the air but when we find out, I will let you know.
Hmm. I wonder with the Cd’s being so low, will Prince get back in the top 10 or maybe hit number 1 this time around? Oh wait. That means Billboard would actually have to count ALL the CD sales this time. Soundscam indeed.-Dr.FB

UPDATE: We got some information straight from the source and I wanted to share. Anthony Malzone let us know that artwork is Officially endorsed by Prince and he had a lot of creative input on the pieces of artwork. His keen eye for art helped Anthony’s artwork become stronger.
Anthony could not confirm the prices that SFAE told us earlier but wanted it to be known that fans of Prince’s official site will get a pretty good discount on the prices of the artwork.
When more information becomes solid, I will update you. Thank you Anthony for providing more information to us.

Posted at 01:50h, 19 DecemberI have seen the pictures and I was not impressed. It would have been nicer to see actually photographs of Prince or drawings/oil paintings. Digital art looks cheap and feels void of any real emotion. I would have bought the circa Purple Rain photos, but the rest of that “art” is not for me.

If P is reading this, so sorry 4 the posts on another web site; I won’t be doing that anymore. I’m blonde and it seemed harmless at the time and I truely regret the pain that I’ve caused. much moaning about it – ok it could have more (live) stuff, but $77 is not THAT much and there’s lots to watch and listen to on there. I do agree a members only download of an Indigo night or something would certianly stop the moaning though!!

I didn’t join lotusflow3r.com so I can see pictures of Prince in a gallery, I joined so that I could get more music, get concert tickets since it had seemed like Prince was going to tour this year and get rarities. We as members are getting ripped off by Prince and it’s not right at all. We just want to support our favorite artist and do right by him to go through him to get his music but he’s got to do right by us too and that’s not happening. Prince comes off as looking greedy and I hope that’s not the case but it’s looking that way.
Prince, you’ve got to do more with this site than what you’ve done. Fans have paid $77.00 for this site and they haven’t even gotten half of their monies worth. Don’t let 2009 end without doing something big for the members of lotusflow3r.com so that the complaining will end. Show us that you care about us and shut us up with music. Remind your fans why we are fans in the first place. Please stop worrying about copyright infringements and all this other stuff that stops you from releasing your TRUE art, the stuff that brings you the money that you want in the first place, THE MUSIC and anything else that is music related like a concert DVD. You can turn all of this around, I beg of you PLEASE get back to focusing on your music and not all this other crap that weighs the whole Purple experience down. We will ALL be satsified once you do this, including you Prince. Thank you.

$1,000 a print is a bit steep for someone who is….in between careers. I am hoping that Lotusflow3r members get a little stimulus package, just throwing that out there. LOL
