Madonna & Mercy. Uncredited Photo For Now...

A photo was released we are told by Madonna herself of her and the Malawian baby Mercy she is trying to adopt.

She was quoted in a newspaper saying:

“I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and healthcare possible. And it’s my hope that she like David, will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country.”

Argh.  Let her have Mercy. (No Elvis pun intended.) Her heart is in the right place and she can provide for the child.-Dr.FB

    Why can’t Madonna just adopt a kid here in America? We have plenty of kids in the same kind of situation as Mercy. Plus, Mercy’s parents don’t want to give her up so why force that to happen? Cause she’s Madonna? Please. Stick to America with this kind of thing.

    She should adopt the girl, but on the condition that the child has to spend a few weeks during the year in Malawi. Keeping her connected to her heritage has gotta be important.

    She goes to Malawi b/c she’s deeply invested in the country (she has a foundation). Plus, it is SO hard to adopt in America. I hope Madonna gets to adopt the little girl and the little girl gets to have a home.

    I agree with PFL….I just find it interesting that all of these celebrities go out of the country to help children from other nations when we have thousands of children right here in the US who would do anything to have a loving home.

    I say let her; she can give that child, and so many others, a real chance at life. And it’s not like she’s adopting and leaving; she keeps doing stuff for the region.

    I want Madonna to be able to help that child, she obviously feels a strong connection to her, I send my support out to Madonna, to Malawi, and to itty bitty Mercy

    I’m rooting for her and hope she gets the chance to adopt Mercy. I don’t think she should be allowed to skirt around their already established adoption laws, but all that aside, Madonna definitely has the means and has proved to be a good mother to her kids so far.

    Part of me thinks it’s cool that M is adopting children like she has been doing by why not American kids? Why adopt kids in another country?
