Don’t tell Etta James that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In spite of the fact that Beyonce portrayed the legendary singer in last year’s film Cadillac Records, James is none too pleased with the younger singer performing Etta’s classic “At Last” at President Obama’s Neighborhood Inaugural Ball.
“She gonna get her ass whipped,” James told the audience at her Seattle concert eight days after Beyonce’s presidential performance. “I can’t stand Beyonce, she had no business up there singing … my song that I’ve been singing forever.”
