03 Nov Report: Sex On TV DOES Increase Teen Pregnancies
Teens who watch shows featuring flirting, necking, discussions of sex and sex scenes are much more likely to knock someone up or get knocked up compared to those who don’t watch those shows.
The crazy study tracked 700 kids aged 12 to 17 year olds were twice as likely to be knockin’ boots.
“Watching this kind of sexual content on television is a powerful factor in increasing the likelihood of a teen pregnancy,” said lead researcher Anita Chandra. “We found a strong association.”
Fifty-eight girls reported getting pregnant and 33 boys reported being responsible for getting a girl pregnant during the study period.
The shows they watched were Sex & The City, Friends & That 70’s Show. Um, no disrespect, but did you see the last two seasons of Friends & That 70’s Show? Sexy? All right then.-Dr.FB
