25 Oct Katy Perry Talks About God; “Accountability Works”

Two fine. Maybe even three fine. For W Magazine’s November issue though, Katy Perry appears on W magazine with 2 different covers. Oh, and she talks about John Mayer again. You guys know they are together right? Just wanted to make sure you didn’t miss it.

Oh, Katy also discussed religion. Wonder how many bloggers/music writers are brave enough to put “G O D” in the title of a post?

In talking about John, she did keep it brief:

“I actually am dating my crush. I had a crush on him for a long time, and it just so happens we fit together great.”

As for her single “Roar”, to Katy, it is a movement:

“This song is about sticking up for yourself. People talk about bullying, but you can be your own bully in some ways. You can be the person who is standing in the way of your success, and that was the case for me. I was having a great professional streak, but personally, I was really immature, so I had to balance those things out. If you are not happy with something, you should change it.

Katy also expressed one of the hardest things to talk about in an interview without seeming crazy, her religious views:

“I try and keep my connection with G-O-D or with a power that’s bigger than me. It’s important – otherwise, you don’t have any kind of accountability. If you think, Hey, at the end of it all I am just going to be dust, or I have no soul or whatever, why not just be a menace to society? For me, accountability works.”

Katy doesn’t run from the question and her background of her parents being preachers and where she came from will make sure she is asked that question 99 times out of a 100 when she is interviewed.-DocFB

Diagnosis: The religion question. It is a trap a majority of the time. Aside from saying “God is great” or “God is good” or exact quotes from the bible, it is a trap. There is nothing wrong with believing or not believing. The more interviewers ask that question, the more I think they are lacking something and looking for an answer themselves.
