05 Jun Jack White Pays $142K Tax Bill To Save Detroit Masonic Temple!
An anonymous person paid the $142K tax bill that the Detroit Masonic Temple had. They have found out the anonymous person who paid the bill is Jack White.
In a report from a Detroit news station, they found out that White paid the outstanding tax bill last month.
Why did Jack do it? The Masonic Temple had this to say in a news release:
“He stepped forward because he had played numerous shows at the theater and because his mother was employed at the Masonic Temple as an usher while he was growing up.”
“Jack’s donation could not have come at a better time and we are eternally grateful to him for it. Jack’s magnanimous generosity and unflinching loyalty to this historic building and his Detroit roots is appreciated beyond words,”
They are renaming the Cathedral Theater inside to “The Jack White Theater” in his honor.
The newly renamed Jack White Theater is a 27,878 square foot structure capable of seating 1,586 people.-DocFB
