Uncle Frank from Jimmy Kimmel Live and actually Kimmel’s uncle died earlier this morning. He was 77 years old.

Frank, who was a police officer for 20 years before joining the Kimmel cast, has been a comedic staple on the show for 8 years.

Jimmy Kimmel tweeted this within the past hour:

“thank you for your kind words about a very kind man – my Uncle Frank – who passed away this morning.”
