05 Nov Prince Involved In New Michael Jackson Release?

Sony Records began pre-selling the new MICHAEL release recently (CD and DVD).
The cover, designed by painter Kadir Nelson, is a collage of MJ pics and icons. If you look REALLY closely at the tiger on the right hand side, you’ll notice the Prince symbol floating in a glass orb. Yes, THAT Prince symbol.
Someone sent it to us and at first we thought it was a Photoshop hoax, but when you visit the Sony website and check out the album artwork, it’s very clearly there.
So was Prince involved somehow in one or more of the tracks on the new release? According to Sony, Kadir’s painting was created in 2009 and “takes us on a journey through some key moments and important people in Michael Jackson’s life.”
Whether Prince and MJ collaborated or Prince was just considered “important people” in MJ’s life remains to be seen. If there is a Prince/MJ collaboration, we definitely want to hear it!
To add to the mystery: Next Monday, November 8th, michaeljackson.com will world premiere “Breaking News,” a full track from the album. It was recorded in New Jersey in 2007.

For ur information. I have no hate for MJ. Listening to his music as a kid taught me how to sing. Mj coming in as the number one profitable person in death. Shows just how much Sony has been profiting since his death.
My anger comes from how Sony tried to get total control & ownership of MJ’s Beatles catalog when he was alive. Thank God he borrowed money to keep half his share or they would have taken that from him to. Mj was over a half billion dollars in debt when he died. Sony threw him under the bus after he made billions of dollars for them. Now they trying to make even more in his death. Katherine had to go to court to ask for a raise from the estate. That is sad and pathetic. Again i do not hate MJ & never said I did….

I’m kind of baffled why that symbol appeared. And no, I don’t believe its got anything to do with Sony Entertainment trying to dust up some Prince/MJ rivalry controversy. I don’t think the Michael estate or Sony needs Prince to gain attention to the work.
The only really stretched connection I could think is that during between the time of Diamonds and the album, Prince sang the line ‘there are no kings on this earth, only Prince’s!” around the Dangerous era. Was there any graphic in a Prince video or project where his symbol was on a glass orb or bubble?
I also don’t think there would be a lawsuit from Prince’s end, as that would be counter intuitive to the Michael Jackson estate and family and I don’t think Prince would make a big stench out of it honestly. It wouldn’t be good press or public relations thing for Prince to do.
If you see see that in your fam Crystal Ball, you just WANT Prince to jam an MJ project because of your own musical-bigotry or hatred for Michael.
And lastly, we can create a LOOOONG list of performers, musicians, etc. who’s estate continues to reap financial benefits long after the said “artist” is deceased. So that whole anger and issue taken with Katherine or the Jackson family, children and even business associates involved in these releases is rather based on something else.
And knowing how much Prince fans, for some really creepy, odd reason, literally ‘hate’ Michael Jackson, I can only deduce that its just that – psycho Prince fan(m)s doing some weird overzealous-y creepy dumb shit.

If Prince decides to sue then Sony deserves just what they get…trying to use Prince/the symbol as a money maker for this upcoming cd.

He is also a BUSINESS OWNER from MN. Material should not be owned by non-musicians (like accountants and lawyers) who haven’t a clue as to what MUSIC is about. That is the downfall with record corporations like SONY. Notice I said “corporation”…when it comes to anything “corporate” that indicates that they think that they have the floor to abuse all of the power. And in this case, they thought that they could take something that belongs to Prince and use it without talking to him FIRST. Well they THUNK wrong! lol

I feel its very tacky that they(Sony cash cows) included Prince symbol in the cover without notifying him. I believe it was done deliberate to bring more attention to this new project. To start up gossip and talk & to make Prince look bad by having it taken off…….Believe me SONY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING……… That is why I never buy any MJ products since Mj died. Sony didn’t care about him when he was alive. There milking his death like no other to profit there stocks and poor Katherine is barely getting any of it…………..

Posted at 13:21h, 06 NovemberFrom what I understand, the two men NEVER had ANY rivalry between each other…they both admired each other for their own unique talents. And that is something that I totally respect of Prince AND MJ (God rest his soul :)).
Now, as far as Prince’s symbol is concerned, it belongs to Prince. If something belongs to someone, and a third party wants to use it, they need to ASK PERMISSION and get it from the HORSE’S MOUTH of the OWNER, and not third-parties who have nothing to do with the ownership. They can’t just take something that belongs to someone and just use it freely, because that’s asking for a lawsuit. Since Prince’s people confirmed that using the symbol WAS NOT AUTHORIZED by Prince himself, then that’s confirmation right there.
Here is where we say that the person/third-party who attempted to use the symbol TRIED THAT.

Will I Am put them together there. Plus MJ showed up at one of Prince shows in Vegas and they did have dinner or breakfast(MJ paid) with Will I Am. I have been saying this 4 years………..
