23 Feb MPLS’ 89.3 To Premiere New Prince Song This Friday

Are u ready 4 the funk?!?!?!

Minneapolis public radio station 89.3 the current reports that  they’ll premiere a new track by Prince this Friday (7am) entitled “Cause and Effect”. Prince has been a supporter of the public station, even attending their 5th birthday party at Minneapolis’ First Avenue last month. The station describes the new song:

…it’s a rocker – filled with virtuosic guitar work, explosive drum breaks, a poppy chorus, trademark shrieks and whoops, some intriguing lyrics (“if I had the chance to do it all again / I wouldn’t change a thing except my next of kin”) and a call to mankind (“you need compassion”). Opening with Prince’s classic pop smarts, the last minute of the tune swerves into a propulsive minor key guitar/strings/drum workout like we haven’t heard from him in years.

To hear the new song from Prince, tune in to 89.3 this Friday at 7am Minneapolis time. If you’re not in Minni, tune in via the live stream on their website. The track will also be available that morning on Prince’s website, lotusflow3r.com.

Prince has been in the news recently because of an Irish trial over the cancellation of his Croke Park gig in the summer of 2008. Rather than take the witness stand, maybe “Cause and Effect” will be Prince’s official statement on the matter?

    It’s “Minnesota” Public Radion, not Minneapolis.

    And 89.3 The Current streams their content from their website. So you can all hear it as well.

    It doesn’t debut til friday so why would it be there now?

    Friday means Friday. The same it debuts on the station, it will be on his web site.

    this time around i will reamin calm, vary calm………that way if it sucks i will not have wasted all my energy for nothing.

    dont get me wrong peeps….i love Prince but his efforts lately have not been that great.

    I’m looking forward to it but I’m very cautious after the trainwreck that was The Vikings Fight Song. God help him if the new song sounds as bad as that song.
