16 Dec Congress To Turn Down The Volume Of TV Commercials

OK, does congress have other more important issues to worry about?  Yes.  Am I happy congress is getting involved in this?  Yes.

Congress has made a bill entitled CALM, Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation, which is going to turn down the volume of commercials. It is one of the most annoying things in the world.  Watching your fav TV show and then the commercials come on and the volume of it is was way louder than the show you are watching.

“In my 17 years in the House of Representatives, I’ve never carried a bill which has been received with so much enthusiasm,” Eshoo said. “Only the do-not-call list has even come close.”

I hope this bill takes effect.  Perhaps congress can do something about companies owning more than one television station in markets and do the same with radio stations as well.

    How quickly can they get it done??? I so agree that I would not buy anything that had been SCREAMED at me from the tv! I don’t sit with the remote in my hand and I hate having to reach for it to turn the volume down when commercials come on. If you leave it down, you can’t hear the show. I thought for a while that it was my imagination, but got over that pretty quickly. I hope it’s a bill that Congress can get passed FAST!!

    It’s about time they did something about the volume of commercials. I don’t watch them anyway but if a really loud one comes on, I change the channel faster than usual. The people that thought of increasing the volume on commercials are idiots. Like I would REALLY listen to and buy something from someone practically yelling at me in my own house. I don’t need a piece of crap Ford pickup that badly, not at all.

    Thank God, seriously. Loud commercials are one of the most annoying things and they effect almost everyone. I can’t wait to see this go into effect!!!
