14 Sep Purple Rumor Mill…Prince & Youtube Reach Agreement?
If this rumor is true, it is unprecedented.
We are hearing rumors that Youtube is now paying Prince to have his music on their site.
Prince, a long standing opponent of youtube, may have finally reached an agreement with the popular video web site. Lately, Prince’s latest videos and songs have been getting posted on youtube (but wanting the videos not to be posted elsewhere and has disabled the embed code to post on various web sites.) So he may be easing off on them.
I think it is a GREAT decision. I have always been a supporter of youtube and if radio doesn’t play your stuff or MTV is too busy showing an episode of the Hills, youtube is an amazing promotional tool.
What do you guys think of this decision?
I don’t really care if it took Youtube to pay Prince, just glad he is open to the usage of it.-Dr.FB

Posted at 23:58h, 07 JanuaryYou are so right about MTV!! and it has been that way since I turned 20, about 22 years ago. Prince is awesome, I would love to see him on youtube, but I suppose if he really doesn’t want the videos there, I guess that is his right…one thing for sure, you are not gonna see him or anybody else worth watching in the music biz, unless you catch vh1 classic at about 2am!

Posted at 13:55h, 23 DecemberWhat I don’t understand is that there are lots of other sites besides Youtube to watch and listen to Prince and people don’t take any notice. Have you seen all the nasty comments left on the videos? I would post some of the comments but I don’t think Dr FB would want to hear them. People actually want Prince to DIE because of this! If I posted a cover of me singing one of his songs and the audio got removed, I’d say ”oh well” and put it somewhere else. I wouldn’t do all this childish name-calling and shouting. Another thing people fail to understand is he is only protecting his work. Not all this BS about wanting money.

Posted at 18:25h, 16 JulyYeah, This has got to be a rumor. Youtube doesn’t need Prince he needs Youtube. Youtube forever keeps you brand on the minds of people. This why nobody who has a brain cares that Youtube doesn’t pay them. Myself I’ve works of band from the past that has renewed my interest. In 2 week I’m going to see Squeeze live. I’ve wanted to see them for 30yrs and never got around to it. I was looking at an old video of Split Enz and saw their video click on it. Voila rediscovered a great band. They just made $49.50 the price of tickets and I’ll most like buy a T-shirt.
If I were Prince I would be posting all kinds of stuff that no one has ever seen. Totally promote and watch the people eat it up.

This is because they are not nor will not pay him.
Prince is in a downward karmick spiral. The album he’s making with another producer will belly up as he goes toward facedown more.
It’s the path he’s chosen.

Posted at 12:59h, 12 MayWho wouldn’t be happy with that? One it’s great for fans and people all over the globe especially young people/kids who could get inspired by seeing Prince and wanting to follow suite. Secondly, if Prince is getting paid it’s a win/win situation.
youtube is the new m-tv. It’s from pure folks and not all the commercial ********
We love certain youtube channels now don’t we 🙂 🙂 🙂 Ta for the update Doc. How’s the cough doing?
