Well now, who is really surprised that the Smithsonian Institution would request to add The Hat to its collection? It’s only the best hat EVER! I don’t know about you, but when I think of great artifacts of American History, that hat is the first thing I’d name off the top of my head <rimshot>.
Aretha Franklin’s hat, designed by millinery genius Luke Song, will join Michelle Obama’s gown and other pieces of inaugural fashion at the renowned institution. That is, if the Queen of Soul can bear to part with it. “I am considering it,” she says. “It would be hard to part with my chapeau since it was such a crowning moment in history.” Indeed. – Dr. FC
